Condom Information Does not Promote Greater Sexual Activity - StudyMar 30, 2006 - Linknet Health News Study Suggests Condom HIV Protection Work Does Not Encourage Sex Mar 30, 2006 - Linknet Health NewsIt is a long-held conservative position that promiscuous sex is encouraged by promoting the use of condoms to prevent unwanted pregnancies and the spread of HIV/AIDS. == Buy Durex Condoms Online == But this position has been severely challenged by a recent federally funded analysis of 174 studies on HIV prevention work. The analysis found just the opposite -- namely that providing information about condoms along with motivational and behavioral outreach actually reduced the frequency of sexual activity more than just motivational and behavioral programs. Spreading information about condoms also did not encourage earlier sex among youth. Nor did it lead to more frequent sexual activity, or lead to more sexual partners among those already sexually active. The analysis was performed by researchers at the University of Connecticut and Syracuse University. According to the researchers, this analysis "should provide reassurance that increased numbers of sexual partners, larger numbers of partners, and more likely sexual activity are not iatrogenic [unintentional] effects of providing condoms or training in condom use skills and interpersonal negotiation skills."
